How to Delete Your Account and Data

Overview

ZonkeVibe respects your right to privacy and data control. In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data and account at any time.

Important: Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed from our systems and cannot be recovered.

How to Delete Your Data

🛍️ For Customers

Step-by-step instructions to delete your customer account:

  1. Open the ZonkeVibe Customer App on your mobile device
  2. Log in to your account if you haven't already
  3. Navigate to the Profile tab (bottom navigation)
  4. Scroll down to the "Account Actions" section
  5. Tap on the "Delete My Data" button (displayed in dark red)
  6. Read the confirmation dialog carefully
  7. Confirm your decision twice to proceed with deletion

Note: You must be logged in to delete your account. If you've forgotten your password, use the password reset feature first.

🏪 For Sellers

Step-by-step instructions to delete your seller account:

  1. Open the ZonkeVibe Seller App on your mobile device
  2. Log in to your seller account if you haven't already
  3. Navigate to the Profile tab (bottom navigation)
  4. Scroll down to the "Account Actions" section
  5. Tap on the "Delete My Data" button (displayed in dark red)
  6. Read the confirmation dialog carefully - this will delete your business and all products
  7. Confirm your decision twice to proceed with deletion

Important: Deleting your seller account will also cancel any active subscriptions. You must be logged in to delete your account.

What Data Gets Deleted

Customer Data Deletion Includes:

  • Personal Information: Name, phone number, email address
  • Profile Data: Profile photos, bio, preferences
  • Location Data: Saved addresses and location history
  • Order History: All past orders and transactions
  • Favorites: Saved sellers and products
  • Reviews: All reviews and ratings you've posted
  • Authentication Data: Login credentials and security information

Seller Data Deletion Includes:

  • Personal Information: Name, phone number, email address
  • Business Profile: Business name, description, category, photos
  • Location Data: Business address and geolocation
  • Products: All product listings, photos, and descriptions
  • Order History: All orders received and fulfillment records
  • Reviews: All customer reviews and ratings for your business
  • Staff & Team Members: All staff accounts and permissions
  • Subscription Data: Subscription history and payment records
  • Analytics: Business performance data and insights
  • Authentication Data: Login credentials and security information

Before You Delete

⚠️ Warning: This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Please consider the following before proceeding:

  • All your data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered
  • You will lose access to your order history and transaction records
  • For Sellers: Your business profile will be removed from the marketplace
  • For Sellers: Active subscriptions will be cancelled (no refunds for partial periods)
  • For Sellers: All product listings will be permanently removed
  • Any pending orders should be completed or cancelled before deletion
  • You will need to create a new account to use ZonkeVibe again in the future

Alternative: Temporarily Pause Your Account

If you're not sure about permanently deleting your account, consider these alternatives:

For Sellers:

  • Pause Your Business: Temporarily stop taking orders without deleting your profile
  • Disable Ordering: Keep your business visible but prevent customers from placing orders

These options allow you to take a break without losing your data, and you can reactivate your account whenever you're ready.

Data Retention Policy

When you delete your account:

  • Your personal data is immediately removed from our active systems
  • Some data may be retained in backup systems for up to 30 days before permanent deletion
  • Certain anonymized data may be retained for legal, tax, or audit purposes as required by law
  • Transaction records required for accounting may be retained for up to 7 years as per South African tax law

Your Rights Under POPIA

  • Access your personal information that we hold
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Object to the processing of your personal information
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your rights have been violated
